Inside Edition excerpt Real Audio file of Lisa McPherson segment of 21 january 96
On December 5, 1995, Lisa McPherson was dead on arrival at a hospital north of Clearwater Florida. According to the coroner's report, Lisa was underweight, dehydrated, and had bruises and bug bites (see summary of report here). Clearwater police are seeking the 3 Scientologists named below to help their investigation.
Lisa's last address is listed as 210 S. Ft. Harrison in Clearwater Florida, which is a Church of Scientology property. Lisa had been a Scientologist from the age of 18 to her death at age 36.
The available evidence in my opinion points to Lisa having been put on the Introspection Rundown that Scientology uses to handle those who have had a psychotic break. On November 18, 1995, Lisa was involved in a minor car accident. She was apparently not hurt, but she got out of her car and took all her clothes off and seemed mentally unstable. She was taken to a hospital where it was recommended that she be taken to a mental institution for evaluation. However, some Scientologists arrived and stated that Lisa did not believe in psychiatry, and she checked out and left with the Scientologists. She went with them for "rest and relaxation" and it is not known for certain what happened from November 18 to her death December 5. Those who took her to the hospital have apparently left the country, and amazingly, the church claims that they have also all left the church.
Scientology has in the past been accused of hiding members from having to give tesimony in sensitive cases.
